Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, is reportedly looking for experienced financial professionals to help train its AI system, Grok. The company has begun recruiting individuals with backgrounds in investment banking, portfolio management, trading, and credit analysis to strengthen the platform’s financial modeling capabilities.
The move is part of Musk’s broader plan to enhance Grok’s capabilities and support his vision of turning X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, into a multifunctional “everything app.” By bringing in industry experts, xAI aims to improve the AI’s ability to analyze and develop financial strategies.
According to several job listings on xAI’s website, the company is building specialized data-annotation teams made up of finance professionals. These experts would help train Grok to evaluate complex financial topics, including leveraged loan syndication, distressed investment strategies, and specialized bond markets such as mortgage-backed securities and collateralized loan obligations.
In addition to finance expertise, Musk has recently strengthened xAI’s talent pool in other technical areas. Reports indicate that he recruited two senior staff members from the AI coding startup Cursor, which is currently seeking funding at an estimated valuation of about $50 billion. Musk has previously acknowledged that xAI still has work to do in the area of AI-assisted coding, a capability that has become an important revenue source for companies like OpenAI and Anthropic.

The company has also expanded hiring in areas related to accounting and digital assets. Musk recently highlighted Grok’s potential to assist users with tasks such as tax preparation, after xAI brought accountants on board to help train the system.
More recently, job postings suggest that xAI is also searching for specialists in cryptocurrency and digital-asset markets to contribute to training its AI models for trading and financial analysis. Messages appearing on xAI’s official X account also emphasize the company’s interest in recruiting professionals from the finance sector.
Neither xAI nor Elon Musk has publicly commented on these hiring efforts. However, Musk has frequently spoken about his support for Grok and his long-term goal of transforming X into a platform that combines social networking, payments, financial services, and other tools in a single ecosystem.
