The cryptocurrency sector experienced a major correction in late 2025, pushing the market into bearish conditions and limiting investor confidence. Bitcoin (BTC) reached a record high of approximately $126,080 in October 2025 before retreating sharply, falling close to half of its peak value. With volatility still affecting digital assets, many investors are looking ahead and wondering when the next major crypto rally could begin.
Positioning Ahead of the Next Crypto Cycle
Several factors contributed to the market downturn, including global economic uncertainty, geopolitical risks, and reduced appetite for speculative investments. As concerns increased, many investors shifted capital toward traditional safe-haven assets such as gold. Market liquidity also tightened, partly due to investors positioning themselves around major upcoming events, including the highly anticipated SpaceX public offering.

Historically, cryptocurrency markets have moved through repeating cycles, and Bitcoin has often been viewed as the primary driver of these trends. The asset has previously followed a roughly four-year cycle, reaching major peaks in 2017 and 2021 before setting another record in 2025.
Some market analysts, including Anthony Scaramucci, believe Bitcoin’s historical cycle pattern could continue. If the trend remains intact, the next major Bitcoin milestone could potentially occur around 2029. Historically, however, market recoveries and accumulation phases often begin before a new peak is reached. Based on that pattern, a new cryptocurrency bull market could potentially start building momentum as early as 2028.
Volatility May Continue Before the Next Rally
Although long-term investors are watching for the next bullish phase, the market may still face additional challenges in the near term. Further price declines remain possible as economic conditions and investor sentiment continue to evolve.
Chinese Bitcoin mining figure Jiang Zhuoer has suggested that Bitcoin could experience another correction, with prices potentially falling into the $42,000–$44,000 range later in the year.
For investors, the current market cycle may represent a period of preparation rather than a final destination. Understanding market trends, managing risk, and building a long-term strategy could be key steps ahead of a possible future cryptocurrency recovery.
