Bitcoin Bear Market May Be Nearing Its Bottom: Could a Rally Be Next?

Bitcoin (BTC) may be approaching an important turning point. Recent reports indicate that the cryptocurrency has moved close to its estimated cost-of-production range, a zone that has historically coincided with major bear-market bottoms. BTC has spent considerable time around the $63,000–$64,000 range while remaining significantly below its 2025 record high. With investor sentiment becoming increasingly cautious, the key question is whether Bitcoin is nearing the end of its downturn.

Could Bitcoin Be Close to the End of Its Bear Market?

Several developments could potentially support a recovery in Bitcoin and the broader crypto market.

Liquidity could return to crypto. Earlier this year, capital appeared to move away from digital assets and toward equities, particularly companies connected to artificial intelligence. The surge in demand for AI-related memory chips has been one notable trend. If that cycle begins to cool toward the end of 2026 or into 2027, some of that capital could potentially find its way back into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Interest rates could provide another catalyst. Inflation has shown signs of easing in recent months. If that trend continues, the Federal Reserve could eventually have more room to reduce interest rates. Lower borrowing costs often encourage investors to seek higher-risk assets, potentially creating a more favorable environment for Bitcoin.

Geopolitical tensions may also play a role. Any meaningful progress toward resolving the conflict between the United States and Iran could improve overall market sentiment. A reduction in tensions around the Strait of Hormuz could also ease concerns surrounding energy markets and oil prices. Improved investor confidence could, in turn, support risk assets such as Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s historical market cycles are another factor to watch. BTC has previously experienced major peaks around four-year intervals, including in 2017, 2021, and 2025. While historical patterns are not guarantees of future performance, some analysts believe Bitcoin could continue to follow a similar cycle. If that pattern remains intact, the next major all-time-high cycle could emerge around 2029, with the recovery potentially beginning as early as 2027.

For now, Bitcoin remains at a critical juncture. A combination of improving liquidity, lower interest rates, easing geopolitical risks, and historical cycle dynamics could create the conditions for a broader recovery. However, investors should remember that past market patterns do not guarantee future results, and Bitcoin can remain highly volatile even when long-term conditions appear favorable.
