Cardano (ADA) has emerged as one of the strongest-performing major cryptocurrencies in recent trading, delivering gains that have surpassed those of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). According to CoinGecko market data, ADA has climbed approximately 7% over the past 24 hours. The token is also up more than 19% over the last week, around 21% over two weeks, and nearly 19% during the past month.
What Is Driving Cardano’s Recent Price Increase?
Several developments appear to be supporting ADA’s upward momentum.
One of the biggest factors is increased activity from large investors. Data from Santiment indicates that whale wallets accumulated roughly 240 million ADA over recent days, bringing total holdings among these large addresses to around 14.5 billion ADA. Significant buying by whales is often viewed as a bullish signal and can encourage additional participation from retail investors.

Another catalyst is the progress of Cardano’s regulated futures market. The network is approaching the completion of its 75-day trading period for regulated futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), scheduled for August 9, 2026. Some market participants believe this milestone could strengthen the case for a future spot Cardano exchange-traded fund (ETF), although no approval has been announced.
Cardano has also reached an important governance milestone. Community members recently approved a roadmap that would allow core protocol development to be financed directly through the blockchain’s treasury. If implemented as planned, the initiative would represent a notable step toward decentralized governance while aligning with the project’s transition into its Dijkstra development phase.
Can ADA Maintain Its Momentum?
Despite the recent rally, several macroeconomic and regulatory factors could limit further upside.

Investors remain focused on U.S. monetary policy. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh has indicated that interest rates could increase in September if July inflation data comes in higher than expected. Rising interest rates typically reduce appetite for risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.
In addition, uncertainty surrounding U.S. crypto legislation may weigh on market sentiment. A potential delay in voting on the CLARITY Act could slow regulatory progress, which some analysts believe may temporarily pressure digital asset prices, including Cardano.
While ADA’s recent performance has been supported by strong accumulation and positive ecosystem developments, broader economic conditions and regulatory decisions are likely to play a key role in determining whether the rally can continue.
