BlackRock Adds $250 Million in Bitcoin Following Extended Selling Period

Blockchain tracking data from Arkham indicates that BlackRock acquired approximately $250 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) over two days. The purchase follows nearly two weeks of net selling activity by the asset-management giant, prompting renewed discussion about whether institutional investors expect the cryptocurrency market to strengthen in the near term.

What May Be Driving the Latest Bitcoin Purchase?

The timing of BlackRock’s acquisition coincides with a modest rebound in Bitcoin prices. Some market participants interpret the move as a sign that the recent decline may have reached a temporary floor, potentially opening the door for further gains.

Bitcoin briefly traded near $64,000 earlier in the week before pulling back toward that level. Despite the recovery, volatility remains elevated across digital-asset markets.

Broader economic and geopolitical developments could still influence price action. Tensions involving the United States and Iran have increased uncertainty in energy markets, while inflation in the United States reportedly reached 4.2% in May 2026. The Federal Reserve has kept interest rates unchanged for now, though many investors continue to speculate that additional rate increases could occur later in the year. Higher borrowing costs have historically created headwinds for risk-oriented assets, including Bitcoin.

Has Bitcoin Already Found Its Bottom?

Historically, July has often been a favorable month for Bitcoin, and data from CryptoQuant suggests the current market may be following a similar seasonal pattern. After beginning July near $58,000, Bitcoin quickly advanced toward $64,000 before stabilizing around present levels.

Investor Anthony Scaramucci has argued that Bitcoin may already be near a market bottom. He has publicly projected that the cryptocurrency could rise to around $77,000 by July 2026.

Institutional Interest Remains in Focus

BlackRock’s latest purchase could encourage other corporations, investment firms, and asset managers to increase their exposure to Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency remains well below its 2025 record high of $126,080, leaving some investors viewing current prices as a potential long-term entry opportunity.

If Bitcoin eventually returns to its previous peak, holders who accumulated during the recent downturn could see substantial gains, although future performance remains uncertain and subject to market conditions.
