Bitcoin Golden Cross: Could BTC Make Another Run Toward $100,000?

Bitcoin (BTC) has officially formed a golden cross, a technical development that traders often view as a potential signal of stronger price momentum ahead. The pattern emerged after Bitcoin’s 50-day moving average moved above its 200-day moving average, marking the first such crossover since November 2025.

With the indicator now confirmed, attention is turning toward Bitcoin’s next major target: the $100,000 level. But while the golden cross offers a bullish technical signal, BTC still has several obstacles to overcome before another six-figure move becomes realistic.

Could the Golden Cross Push Bitcoin Above $100,000?

Historically, Bitcoin has performed strongly following golden-cross formations. The previous three occurrences were followed by gains of approximately 50%, 45%, and 60%, respectively. Those historical moves have naturally fueled speculation that BTC could once again experience a substantial rally.

However, past performance does not guarantee a repeat. Bitcoin’s current market environment includes several factors that could either strengthen or limit a potential breakout.

One of the more encouraging developments has been increased demand through spot Bitcoin ETFs. Recent inflows have approached $3.8 billion, suggesting that institutional interest remains an important source of buying pressure. If that demand continues alongside improving market liquidity, Bitcoin could have a stronger foundation for a move toward $100,000.

$79,000–$81,000 Remains a Major Hurdle

Despite the positive technical signal, Bitcoin has yet to decisively clear the $79,000–$81,000 region. This price zone could prove particularly important because sustained movement above it would give bulls greater confidence that the broader uptrend is gaining traction.

🚨BULLISH: Bitcoin’s golden cross has officially confirmed for the first time since November 2025.

Its 50-day average has crossed above the 200-day after spending nearly 280 days below this signal.

The last three completed golden crosses sent Bitcoin up 50%, 45% and 60%.

Bitcoin experienced renewed momentum in late August following a cryptocurrency-focused event at the White House. President Donald Trump indicated that the United States intended to acquire a significant amount of Bitcoin and other digital assets, adding to the bullish narrative surrounding the market.

Liquidity conditions have also played a role. Increased Treasury bond buybacks contributed to a rise in market liquidity, potentially providing additional support for risk assets such as Bitcoin.

Interest Rates Could Determine BTC’s Next Move

Macroeconomic conditions remain another critical variable for Bitcoin.

Earlier this month, Federal Reserve Governor Christopher J. Waller suggested that interest rates could remain unchanged if inflation stays under control. Such expectations can be supportive for risk assets because they reduce fears of additional monetary tightening.

Nevertheless, concerns surrounding inflation have not disappeared. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s remarks at the Jackson Hole meeting continued to attract attention, particularly because of his emphasis on inflationary pressures.

The latest U.S. jobs data has also added uncertainty to the outlook. If economic conditions prompt the Federal Reserve to maintain or increase its restrictive stance, cryptocurrencies could face renewed selling pressure.

Can BTC Actually Reach $100,000?

The golden cross certainly strengthens Bitcoin’s technical outlook, while ETF demand and improving liquidity provide additional bullish arguments. Still, BTC needs to overcome the $79,000–$81,000 resistance area before the path toward $100,000 becomes considerably clearer.

A sustained breakout above that zone, combined with continued institutional inflows and a more favorable interest-rate environment, could give Bitcoin the momentum required to challenge six-figure territory.

On the other hand, renewed inflation concerns or tighter monetary policy could delay that move. For now, the golden cross is a positive signal—but Bitcoin’s ability to turn that signal into a major rally will depend on whether buyers can overcome the market’s broader technical and macroeconomic headwinds.
